Storyline and Rough Story Board

After finally completing the storyline for the music video I drew sketches of all the scenes, with the different types of shots and movements I wanted to create, in a notebook. Storyline: Rough Story Board:  All the scenes were numbered and some scenes were marked with blue and red colours (the former indicating stabilizer shots and the latter inicating drone shots)

Visual Comedy

I came across an amazing director, Edgar Wright, who manipulates the art of editing to create hilarious texts. The use of prominent visual effects in his movies deviate from the comedy genre conventions generally used in other movies. Nonetheless, the style of making and editing the movies is such that the comedic aspect can clearly be recognized. The movies that particularly impressed me were 'Shaun of the death' and 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World'.

Graphic Match ( Testing shots for Music video )

https://youtu.be/ExYFeaAjdT0 I wanted to produce a creative transition between two shots wherein the wheel of a car is graphically matched with a spinning airborne frisbee. The latter was challenging to produce and after hours of pondering I managed to construct a system that allowed the frisbee to spin in its place while it was being filmed perpendicularly.  Initially, I suspended the frisbee with the help of a green string (so that it could be easily cropped out while removing the green screen in the background of the shot in After Effects CC software). However, the frisbee barely stayed horizontal while spinning due to the limited stability provided by the thin thread.  Then, I improvised by using earphones that were taped from one end to a wooden stick. Fortunately, the frisbee started to spin perfectly.  I set up everything as shown in the pictures and video above. Another out of focus shot was taken by swinging the camera from its

Bhurban trip video

https://youtu.be/yjAFGk9JsEY I edited the random shots I took during a school trip. Through youtube, I learned how to remove noise from video clips and color grade relatively professionally. I did the former by reducing exposure in the editing panel and adjusting the blacks, whites, shadows, and highlights of the clips. Lastly, I added bars to give the video a cinematic feel.

Research on Genres

I want to create a music video following the comedy and romance genre. To create such a text, I looked into the romance and comedy genre conventions that I could follow. These are some of the important points I noted down.  ROMANCE: COMEDY: I came across a table that showed the types of comedy. To my surprise, visual comedy (through editing) was not included.

Changing the song for my Music Video (2)

It's been a ride finding the perfect song! Before I'm judged for being too confused, I would like to express my opinion on this process of experimenting. I've tried to plan a music video for two songs now. I created storylines for a serious/inspirational song as well as a happy/enthusiastic song. Both seem too plain to me as both are saturated with a single theme. A few days ago I came across a song that I was previously familiar with only because its starting was used in a meme. After listening to its complete version, so many ideas sprang to my mind. The song that had removed my "writer's block" was definitely the perfect song I was searching for. This song is non-other than 'TAKE ON ME' by A-HA ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914 ) . The fact that it has been associated with a meme may be the reason why the song prompts a story with a comedic aspect in my brain. Side by side, the music video gives a tragic/romantic vibe.  I hope I s

Promotional Video for 'Welcome Party'

https://www.youtube.com/upload While editing this video, I tried to add new effects that would make the video more interesting to watch. I added a glitch effect (by playing around with the RGB controls in the effects panel) and a smooth zoom transition in the middle of several clips that I learned from a youtube video (  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T6PvwWqVjc&t=234s  ). Due to less time available for editing, I simply added different lumetri color grading presets rather than manually color grading the clips.

Orbiting Hyperlapse and Stop Motion / Trying out shots for Music Video

For the Orbiting Hyperlapse, I had to use an inextensible thread and chalk to draw a semicircle about a fixed point, where a guy was made to stand. Thereafter, I took pictures from a DSLR, mounted on a tripod, that was moved along the path of the semicircle at constant intervals of length.
