Battle of the bands

Being the 'Head of Media' at the event 'Battle of the bands', I had to make an opening video for the final day.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeYTRKMzDNk The best part was how the judges and audience of the event enjoyed my video. Boy oh boy do I love audience reactions ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXZtK1doKuA https://youtu.be/y7LPoPukKA8  (audience reaction from 0:26 onwards)

Trying out Shots for final video (1)

A while back I was introduced to the music video of  'In the name of Love' by another media student. I was fascinated by the effect shown at 0:52 and 1:50. Ever since then I tried to investigate and figure out how it was made.  Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha - In The Name Of Love (Official Video):   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnBT9uUYb1w Finally, I tried a technique which gave me the same effect. A volunteer stood in a location with a prominent background. Two pictures were then taken of the volunteer in which he was placed in a constant position on the camera screen with the help of grid lines. As a result the background moved according to the changing perspective of the camera lens; however, the subject's position remained significantly unchanged. The two pictures were placed one after the other repeatedly in Adobe premier software. My video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdieqY1OAJU

Inspiration for new song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPmcLzgnlo8  : This song ' BIG LOVE ' by Black-eyed Peas  is a song that tears me up every time I listen to it.  I love how in this video there isn't one singer, rather everyone is lip singing together creating a sense of unity.  This may depict that everyone who (is a victim of a school shooting or is being oppressed by the government) is going through this problem isn't alone and that everyone is filled with love and should help each other. This aspect made the video far more emotional. Since this had a strong impact on me, I wanted to use a similar idea for my music video.    ' NO T TOO LATE ' by Lemaitre'   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14Go3Jm1knc My interpretation of the song may be completely different to what it was supposed to convey. However, that's the beauty of perception. Thereafter, according to me; this song shows how in life there are difficulties. Everyone goes through hardships, not neces

From Group to Solo

After pondering on this matter for days I finally decided to work independently on my music promotion video. I feel like I can direct better this way and will be able to visually represent my ideas.  Working separately may be a challenge but its a challenge I'm willing to take, considering it may prepare me for the obstacles and challenges I would have to face in the media industry of the real world.

Media Assessement

In this video, we went full swing on editing and mise-en-scene.  Action-Match and short takes prevented the video from being boring due to the limited camera angles and movements. Animation, adding layers of lower opacity, black and white tint effect, reverse and repeat effect made the music video look more interesting. Write-on and flash effects were used to introduce the title in an innovative way.  We used two studio lights, positioned at 45 degrees from the centre, with translucent white and red filters. A third light was used to form a rim of light behind the actress.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rfe_siD6IE

Music Room (Music video practice)

Unlike the music video required in the Cambridge Media Exam, I worked with an original score recorded on an iPhone. As expected there was a lot of noise in the audio and I had to use a software called Audacity for noise reduction. However, I could not edit the audio perfectly and ended up with an undesirable level of distortion in it. I was left to use the original audio and edited it slightly using adobe premier. Synchronizing the recording with the video clips was the hardest task. Even though Adobe has a synchronizing option itself, the option did not work properly on the video clips. Thereafter I had to manually position them along the timeline. Colour grading was easy, thanks to adobe premiere pro's inbuild colour grading stocks, with a few adjustments made.  I played around with scale, position, rotation, speed and keyframes.    https://youtu.be/0ApNmjLhItg
