Music Videos to Me

Music has a tendency to stir your emotions. It can make you feel overwhelmed with happiness or sadness. Every individual has a unique perception of a song they listen to. However, putting pictures to those melodious words can give a whole new meaning to it. Depending on how the director depicts the song using moving pictures, a whole new direction is given to it in a MUSIC VIDEO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAu6y6uBqPc  > When I came across this song and would listen to it on repeat the only thing that would come to my head was 'a kid being deprived of adequate love and care'. This idea came from a post I saw on Instagram months ago and a scene from my favorite TV show 'Breaking Bad'. With just two sources I thought of a storyline for a music video. It is apparent how my idea and the actual music video are completely dissimilar. This shows how every individual has an entirely different thought process (as mentioned before). Song for Music Video

I and my team decided to use the song 'My Boy'  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inPbasBt7KI I like this song because a very artsy and symbolic video can be made to match the singer's dreamy elongated vocals. My team member Ayesha showed me some amazing pictures of a photographer on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/alessioalbi/ . The use of natural light and shadows is amazing. The primary aspect that attracts me is the way the smoke shimmers as the sunlight falls from the side or behind. These are some of the pictures that certain scenes in our video might be based on.

Sorrow ( music video practice)

It's always fun to use extreme angles. The aerial shot and subtle rotating effect make the starting video clip perfect for an opening.  Black and white can give a very sophisticated and posh vibe. I played around at the end by pouring colour into the black and white video. This was achieved by using colour key effect, by changing its intensity to gradually remove the black and white clip to reveal a coloured version of the same clip from beneath the former clip.  The Audio was recorded in an empty room to avoid adulteration by unwanted noise. It was then synchronized manually with the video clips in adobe premiere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KaVn-w1Bqo&index=1&list=UUBVo4p1Q5cynkCNEFUs8xwg

Red talks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ICYXheEBoM&feature=youtu.be   With only a few pictures, recordings and some information available, I narrated and edited a video in a few hours for a friend for her project. This was a new experience for me in which I had to manage everything under pressure within a certain time frame. This equipped me with time management and organizational skills (since I had to organize the available content in a chronological order to make it clear and understandable).

MY MUSIC PROMOTION BLOG

My name is Hooria Said and WELCOME TO MY BLOG :))  I'll walk you through my journey in making a music promotion video.  (Edited: Initially, I was part of a group; however, later I decided I wanted to work independently on my media text. This decision was taken during the early stage of planning, therefore none of my former members were affected.)

EVENT COVERAGE

Covering an event in a music video is very challenging. It's important to show all aspects of that event, the work as well as the fun part, in a way that isn't confusing and is entertaining. Being 'Deputy Head' of a 'Model United Nations(MUN)' event, I had to make a video covering all activities that occurred from day one to day three as briefly as possible.         https://drive.google.com/open?id=1gpfdKmiodxZMHPK7RcIwun7rkpFC_zCA
