Editing the Music Video (4)

I've finally arranged all the clips in order in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. I carried out fast-paced editing at the start of the music video, with quick zoom-ins and cuts in scenes according to the beat. A cool effect that I used in several places is the Sam Kolder Smooth Zoom Transition. For this transition, two adjustment layers were placed on top of the junction of two clips. The adjustment layers may just be on top of the edge of the second clip as shown in the second screenshot.

On one adjustment layer, a 'Transform' effect was added which was used to zoom into the clip (with the help of the scale option and keyframes). On the other adjustment layer, a mirror effect was dropped four times. The y-coordinates and x-coordinates for the reflection center were adjusted to make the edges of the clip seamless.

This created a smooth zoom in transition!

The other effect that I used rather extensively was the masking effect. Here, I would duplicate the clip and create a mask around the person on the top clip. The top clip would then be scaled up according to the beat of the song. I added a colored tint in the background of one such animation. I also added a paint bucket effect to create an outline for the mask.

Media Assessement

In this video, we went full swing on editing and mise-en-scene.  Action-Match and short takes prevented the video from being boring due to the limited camera angles and movements. Animation, adding layers of lower opacity, black and white tint effect, reverse and repeat effect made the music video look more interesting. Write-on and flash effects were used to introduce the title in an innovative way.  We used two studio lights, positioned at 45 degrees from the centre, with translucent white and red filters. A third light was used to form a rim of light behind the actress.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rfe_siD6IE

Shooting (Day 1)

Yesterday I made a list in which I organized all the scenes to be filmed according to different days. Today and tomorrow's scenes mostly included the stabilizer shots so that I could be done with using the stabilizer and return it back to the school's media lab (because other groups would want to use it as well). The numbers written in the list are the same as the numbers I wrote with the scenes drawn in the rough storyboard. After today's shoot, I ticked the scenes that were successfully filmed so that I could complete the ones that were left tomorrow. Yesterday I also made a list of all the props and people required for today's shot and messaged my actors accordingly.  I had informed my actors to arrive at 8am. This was important since today's shots were taken in a public park and an area surrounded by restaurants and cafes where it gets crowded after 11am. I stabilized the stabilizer before the actors arrived. I filmed those shots first that re...
