Dignity Day Video

Today we celebrated dignity day in our school and being the head of filmmaking society I made a video about it.

The video started off with a fun fast-paced soundtrack to create suspense and interest. I added text with a simple question, in the start, to encourage engagement with the audience; which is ironic since this video can be considered a part of hot media (which demands little interaction from the viewer/user).

Two interviews were added to give the video a documentary feel.

A smooth audio transition from the diegetic and non-diegetic sounds of the interviewee and background score respectively to an 'Urdu poetry' was made. The poetry was accompanied by slow-motion shots of students and lower staff members to give a dramatic effect.

Media Assessement

In this video, we went full swing on editing and mise-en-scene.  Action-Match and short takes prevented the video from being boring due to the limited camera angles and movements. Animation, adding layers of lower opacity, black and white tint effect, reverse and repeat effect made the music video look more interesting. Write-on and flash effects were used to introduce the title in an innovative way.  We used two studio lights, positioned at 45 degrees from the centre, with translucent white and red filters. A third light was used to form a rim of light behind the actress.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rfe_siD6IE

Shooting (Day 1)

Yesterday I made a list in which I organized all the scenes to be filmed according to different days. Today and tomorrow's scenes mostly included the stabilizer shots so that I could be done with using the stabilizer and return it back to the school's media lab (because other groups would want to use it as well). The numbers written in the list are the same as the numbers I wrote with the scenes drawn in the rough storyboard. After today's shoot, I ticked the scenes that were successfully filmed so that I could complete the ones that were left tomorrow. Yesterday I also made a list of all the props and people required for today's shot and messaged my actors accordingly.  I had informed my actors to arrive at 8am. This was important since today's shots were taken in a public park and an area surrounded by restaurants and cafes where it gets crowded after 11am. I stabilized the stabilizer before the actors arrived. I filmed those shots first that re...
